Be a Rider Leader
Bountiful Mountain Bike Team is a community of riders passionate about adventure, growth, and competition.
Ride Leaders are the heart of the Bountiful Mountain Bike Team.
They guide student-athletes on the trails, teach safe riding practices, and help build confidence, character, and teamwork. Our program relies on dedicated volunteers who love mountain biking and want to make a positive impact in our youth community.
What Ride Leaders Do
Lead or assist with small group rides during practices
Ride Leaders are assigned to small groups of student-athletes based on age and skill level. They help guide the group safely along designated trails, maintain pace, and ensure all riders stay together throughout the practice.
Model safe riding habits, trail etiquette, and positive sportsmanship
Ride Leaders set the example for proper trail behavior—wearing helmets, following trail rules, communicating clearly, and showing respect to other riders and trail users. They also demonstrate teamwork, encouragement, and respect during all team activities.
Support skill development and encourage riders of all levels
Ride Leaders help riders practice techniques introduced by coaches, such as braking, cornering, and climbing. They provide constructive feedback and motivate riders to improve while maintaining a positive and supportive attitude.
Communicate with coaches to ensure safety and consistent training
Ride Leaders regularly update the coaching staff about group performance, trail conditions, and any safety concerns. Open communication helps maintain consistency and ensures all riders receive appropriate guidance and support.
Help foster a fun, inclusive environment where every rider feels valued
Ride Leaders contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for all athletes—regardless of experience or ability. They encourage teamwork, celebrate effort and progress, and help riders build confidence both on and off the bike.
